The American Cheese Society has awarded its 2009 winners from over 1300 American artisanal cheeses, and the recipients are impressive. Growing from its humble beginnings in 1983, the Society has helped American cheeses and cheesemakers find a voice in the marketplace and has changed the definition of American cheese. As a result, American cheese today is much more than just sliced singles. This medley combines three cheeses that have been awarded Best of Show by the ACS and are paired with an American classic - the rare Tupelo honey from Georgia. (1.25 lb cheese)

Cabot Clothbound Cheddar, Cabot Creamery aged at the Cellars of Jasper Hill Farm, Greensboro, VT, Cow’s Milk -
From the cellars of Jasper Hill farm, this 12 month old Cabot cheddar took "Best of Show" at the 2006 ACS conference. A clothbound cheddar that everyone can love, this buttery, sharp cheddar is rich with fruit, caramelized nuts and an underlying grassiness.

Pleasant Ridge Reserve, Uplands Dairy, Dodgeville, WI, Raw Cow’s Milk -
Two time American Cheese Society "Best of Show" cheese is produced only during the warm months when the pasture is green, producing a slightly floral, grassy and nutty semi-hard cheese with slight earthy finish.

Wabash Cannonball, Capriole Farm, Greenville, IN, Goat’s Milk -
A hand-formed spherical goat's milk cheese crafted using sustainable, small-scale farming. Creamy, but dense with intriguing earthy notes and a hint of citrus. Its delicate ash and soft mold rind develops a beautiful, wrinkly appearance as the interior ripens.

Tupelo Honey, Savannah Bee Co., Savannah, GA -
Very rare. This pure, raw honey comes from the swamp lands of Georgia where it is only harvested for a few days in April from the Tupelo tree. The buttery flavor melts on the tongue with a hint of anise. Especially wonderful drizzled on fresh and aged cheeses, Tupelo honey will never crystallize in the bottle. (3 oz.)
