Over the summer, the cheese community bid a fond farewell to Daphne Zepos, a beloved cheese advocate. Throughout her life, Daphne worked tirelessly to support the cause of small-batch artisan cheesemaking here in the US, as well as to help introduce people to the wonders of the traditional cheeses of Europe. She founded the Essex Street Cheese Company and was a part owner of The Cheese School of San Francisco, the only cheese education center in the country.
