Pastoral_EmployeesPastoral Artisan Cheese, Bread & Wine is an award-winning European-inspired neighborhood cheese, specialty food and wine retailer. ASSISTANT MANAGER- Appellation

The Assistant Manager is a member of Appellation's restaurant management team who will oversee the FOH staff to ensure that efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly service is given to all patrons of our restaurants. This Manger will uphold the culture and systems of the business in absence of the Front of House Manager while maintaining professionalism at all times. 

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the proper atmosphere of the dining room with lighting, music volume and overall cleanliness of the restaurant
  • Document and address any guest or staff concerns
  • Order restaurant supplies
  • Oversee the execution of all FOH side work
  • Reconcile nightly cash intake for FOH employees and maintain an accurate cash drawer
  • Responsible for the closing procedures such as financial reconciliation, nightly reports, closing duties of all staff, and the lock-up of the restaurant
  • Ensure nightly menu is accurate through communication with purchasing and BOH team
  • Ensure POS accurately reflects available menu items and prices
  • Assist Front of House Manager with recruiting activities as needed
  • Maintain knowledge and ability to troubleshoot POS/credit card issues
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years in a management level position; minimum of 1 year serving/bartending experience in a mid to high-end establishment
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills with both customers and employees
  • Must have open availability to accommodate the needs of the business; nights, weekend brunch availability required
  • Microsoft Word and Excel knowledge required; experience with Open Table a plus
  • Knowledge of small-batch, artisan food (particularly cheese and/or wine) is strongly preferred

SERVER ASSISTANTS- Bar Pastoral and Appellation

Experience in a bistro style dining room is preferred. Open weekend availability is REQUIRED.

  • Provide exceptional hospitality to guests and coworkers
  • Accurately run, deliver, and describe food and beverage
  • Bus used and unneeded dishes and glassware from guests tables to dishwashing station
  • Scrape and stack dirty dishes, and carry dishes and other tableware to the galley for cleaning
  • Maintain the cleanliness and safety of all common areas and service stations; clean up spilled food, drink and broken dishes, and remove empty bottles and trash
  • Assist bar with all stocking needs throughout service
  • Set up and break down dining room and service stations as prescribed; polish glassware and silverware
  • Other duties as assigned

COUNTER SALES ASSOCIATES

Counter Sales Associates will deliver impeccable customer service while educating Pastoral's customers about the fascinating world of artisan cheese, charcuterie, bread, and wines. The Counter Associate will assist with opening and closing procedures, and will assist with catering and gifting needs as needed.

Requirements:

  • Prior education in or professional experience with small-batch, artisan food (particularly cheese and/or wine) is strongly preferred
  • Willingness to study and learn about our always-changing mix of artisan cheese, wine, charcuterie, bread and accompaniments
  • Proficient knife skills
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and throughout the holiday season
  • Must obtain Food Handler license upon employment
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 30 pounds

Sandwich Bar Associates will focus on fulfillment of sandwich and salad orders, catering and fulfillment prep, and provide outstanding customer service to all guests. The Associates will assist with opening and closing procedures, and assist other team members as needed.

  • Prior experience in the food industry and with small-batch, artisan food (particularly cheese and/or wine) is strongly preferred
  • Willingness to study and learn about our always-changing mix of artisan cheese, wine, charcuterie, bread and accompaniments
  • Proficient knife skills
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and throughout the holiday season
  • Must obtain Food Handler license upon employment
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 30 pounds
